PHOTOGRAPHY

As you can see on the picture below, there is only one picture and that is because there is no interesting stuff around my house (it's pretty lame) except this picture that is shown below. Now you may ask what's so interesting about these plants (the hanging ones.) Now you see, back on the 1900's these plants were placed on the exact same spot till to this day, which I found amusing.  But what I found even more amusing is the fact that these plants were said to be living for a  hundred and twenty years, well, according to my father since the house we're living on right now has been up for more than a century. But that's really all that I got to say for this picture, I may or may not have missed some few interesting things I found on this century old house but there's nothing really good enough that I could share to you all, so that's about it.

ARGUMENTATIVE WRITING

Migrants... What are they exactly? are they someone that grant your wishes? are they someone that  rants about random stuff? nope. Migrants, are basically "people that moves from one place to another, especially  in order to find work or better living". Migrating into other countries has been  a thing for centuries, even including people such as Jose Rizal, our national hero and Elpido Quirino one of our former president of the Philippines are considered as immigrants. And by "has been a thing for centuries" i mean by more than 5 centuries to be exact. There are lots and lots of people from different countries that want to migrate to a different one and that is because, just like what I said earlier it is to live a quality life, earn salary for their family or for themselves and to avoid conflict. And most of the  people that migrate is us, filipinos. We, filipinos are actually one of the highest migrants that are listed this century. The reason for this is because of poverty. I'd would say we could've been "poverty-free" if we hadn't have any of those "issues" back on the 90's but that is aside the point that we're still high of poverty on the recent times. Our ancestors confirmed that migrating is one of the ways to rise from poverty. But not just to rise from poverty. As you migrate from another country the knowledge that you have absorbed and the skill that you have learned can be transposed back in the country where you came from. An example from this is Jose Rizal. He migrated into other countries and learnt their languages in that way he could communicate and understand the colonizers back then. As time passes by, the migrants continued to prove that one of the best ways to rise from poverty is to migrate and sacrifice yourself for the better and for the worse.

The most obvious and most reasonable reason to migrate from another country is because of the raise of the salary. This has been an advantage it is because obviously, the country the person migrated has more to offer than the country where he actually belongs, so it is a win-win for whichever person migrated to which country. A study shows that compared to the average person working on the country where he belongs and the migrant working on a different country so he could have more salary to earn is not even close. Statistically the migrant has about thrice maybe even quice the salary the non-migrant has. And this study wasn't even opinionated neither half-baked, it was a fact.

Migrating to another country is satisfying, you may ask why I know this but you don't really need to know, I just know how satisfying it is. Anyways, speaking of satisfaction, there are plenty and lots of reasons why migrating to another country is satisfyingly pleasing to the migrants, having "more salary to earn" and such, there comes in Improved quality of life. Researchers have found out that  "immigrants across the globe are generally happier following migration—reporting more life satisfaction, more positive emotions, and fewer negative emotions—based on Gallup surveys of some 36,000 migrants from more than 150 countries". Although migrants are more and more separated from their culture and traditions, they are living the life they always wanted to have and that is one of the benefits of migrating to other countries.

Natural resources, ah yes, the most important thing for humanity to survive. Now imagine a world without natural resources, you probably couldn't imagine it, right? I mean to be fair a world without natural resources hasn't been at least created, right? Anyways, migrants are  less pressured on food and water,  countries like Australia and New Zealand give out  free food, water and hospitality and by hospitality I mean by literally free hospital funds. "Public hospital healthcare is free to all Australian citizens and most permanent residents of Australia. A combination of Medicare, private health insurance and personal payments covers the cost of treatment as a private patient in a public or private hospital." (January 3,2019). I still have no idea why they would  do such thing to migrants but I guess that is  a pretty good way to commit  world  peace and equality  to one another.
(Miss Jeanille, ignore the American drama thing)

They say that migration is the best way to rise from poverty, however, migrating from one country to another can also have its cons. So, instead of risking or perhaps you're not prepared yet to venture out to the wilderness maybe try a few things first that could possibly rise from poverty, there are plenty of ways, such as doing a small business, people like David S. Gaisano (the founder of Gaisano Grandmall) started very very deep, he was once just a normal guy with a small business with very big dreams, he continued persuing with this business of his, until he became very popular, and had lots of customers until he finally built his own company and business apparel. You see, you don't really need to play the "high risk, high reward" type of card y'know? sometimes, we just need to take it slow, because we all have the time we want and we need.

If you're one of those people that are questioning and are nervous to know what their future is, then... WHY WOULDN'T YOU START NOW? ISN'T IT EASIER TO START EARLIER TO KNOW HOW MUCH YOU ARE CAPABLE OF?

3 C'S

LOVE STORIES IN MYTHOLOGY

This, right here, is the Venn Diagram I have made. I have chosen Orpheus and Eurydice's love story in contrast to cupid  and psyche's love story  it is because I want a love story that rivals the love story of Cupid and Psyche in a different way. The story of Orpheus and Eurydice is a hollywood type of level in terms of story telling, which makes everything even better and so that is why I chose it as a contrast to Cupid and Psyche's love story.

Love is a learned, emotional reaction. It is a response to a learned group of stimuli and behaviors. To give love you must possess love. One cannot teach what he does not understand. It wants to be present and be together. When people are in love, sometimes they think that they don't have to “do any more work.” But real love actually enjoys giving attention to another person. It feels good, and doesn't see giving attention to another person as a chore.

AFRICAN MUSIC

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCnoDfOuIKY

African Music is very different and unique compared to other types of music all around the world. Beyond the rhythmic nature of the music, African music differs from Western music in that the various parts of the music do not necessarily combine in a harmonious fashion. African musicians aim to express life, in all its aspects, through the medium of sound. African music is a vital part of everyday life in Africa. It is a part of religious ceremonies, festivals, and social rituals. Songs are used for the important events in a person's life. And just like what was shown in the video. You can see how Keita (The african guy) is giving his all into performing and showing them to the audience. No matter how long, how hard or how tired he is, he is still going all out to give the audience what he has practiced for 25 years.

The true MEANING behind Vincent Van Gogh's Starry night Painting

The oil canvas painting "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh, a professional  Dutch painter whose art movement is Post-Impressionism. Painted in June 1889, which symbolizes the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint. Remy de Province, just before the sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village. On this painting Van Gogh used his unique and famous, thick brush strokes, however, this was not the right stroking method he was gonna go for. As he was about to start doing light normal strokes, he suddenly had a slight seizure which resulted on a thick brush stroke instead of a light normal stroke and since there were no extra sheets of empty canvas' he decided to just go for a different approach. Vincent Van Gogh has a maximum of two rooms to go around on the asylum which is the ground level and the top level, first off, the top level, this is the main room , the room where he sleeps, eats, and do a bunch of other stuff. As for the ground level this serves as his painting studio in which he can always go to whenever he feels bored or inspired. During the year, he has made tons of progress while on the asylum. The prolific output of paintings he had begun in Arles continued. During this period, he produced some of the best-known works of his career, including the Irises from May 1889, now in the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the blue self-portrait from September, 1889, in the Musée d'Orsay and finally the famous oil canvas painting "The Starry Night" was painted mid-June by around  June 18, the date he wrote to his brother Theo to say he had a new study of a starry sky. The famous painting "The Starry Night" is currently on the museum of Modern Art located on New York City. Aside, from that, the real reason onto why this Painting has such deep meaning yet such a normal looking canvas  is because Vincent Van Gogh during the point of painting this Canvas was slowly dying because of his ill, unfortunately there was no accurate reason on what was his condition on the asylum. The tree on the background is called the Cypress Tree, in europe, it  represents death and so Vincent Van Gogh was trying to show and present a message in which people would understand the reason on his death. This paining, Vincent Van Gogh was currently painting was  supposed to be a gift for his brother Theo but instead it became a death flag.

Honestly, on this Canvas, Vincent Van Gogh made, I don't know if its just me but you could definitely  feel Van Gogh's depression through the canvas that he has made.  The fact that he has realized that he has only little time left to  live has made him depressed, it's like he has more things he wanted to do on his life but unfortunately couldn't. Looking onto  the current world we live in, we're trapped in asylum (technically) just like Vincent Van Gogh. Because of this Pandemic, more and more people has experienced depression. Why? you may ask. Well, this is most likely because of being alone or forced to stay on the same place over and over again. But then again, Vincent Van Gogh had it more rough than us on this pandemic.

I myself have not experienced depression. I couldn't even imagine myself having depression but I have some people that I knew that have been gone through depression. I could easily identify a person especially people that are close to me if there's something wrong with them. It is a shame that I couldn't do anything to help them because I  am afraid of doing mistakes such as making their conditions worse, in fact I myself couldn't do anything about other peoples feelings, it's not like I'm a guidance counselor or a therapist that could help conditions of people that are unbearable and so I am glad that I haven't interfere with any of their conditions. I instead try to pretend and not know anything about their condition and try to make them forget the sadness they are currently experiencing on that moment.

The true meaning behind Vincent Van Gogh's, Starry Night Painting is that no matter how simple an object is, there is sometimes a deep meaning behind it. A good example of this is the painting Vincent Van Gogh made. At first look, the towns people thought it is just an ordinary painting. But whenever the painting got to Theo, he knew something was up. Because he knew the his brother, Vincent, wouldn't make such a plain looking painting with no definition at all. And so after a few days he has noticed the tree which symbolizes death in europe. He blantantly  accepted Vincent's death, straight up, because that was how they were taught back then. Anyways,  In the painting there are 11 stars, this reminded me of that movie scene from the bible where the night sky had 11 stars and coincidentally, in the bible it has stated that if there are about 11 stars shining through the night sky means that there's hope. Even how hard  you have gone through, no matter how hard it is to achieve your goal. There is always hope. But unfortunately, for the Dutch painter, there wasn't hope for him.

Vincent Van Gogh during asylum has experienced depression through out. Why has he experienced depression? you may ask. I mean, imagine being staying the same two rooms alone for a year. Wouldn't you at least experience a brink of depression? So that is why Vincent tried to prevent depression because he knew this could go worse and affect his mental health. Now I'm calling out every person that is reading this essay, if ever you are experiencing depression try to prevent it. Having depression is hard to get rid of. I know. Even if I haven't experienced having depression, I still have friends that have experienced so I know how it feels. Try to prevent depression by Getting enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. Reach out to family and friends when times get hard. Get regular medical checkups, and see your provider if you don't feel right. Get help if you think you're depressed. And lastly do not forget that there is still hope.

False advertising. Why is it bad?!

The consumer law as we all know is a law that we might consider as one of the most important laws that has been implemented in the whole world. The consumer law involves all of the regulations and statutes that seek to create a more equitable balance for buyers in the marketplace and prevent sellers from using dishonest tactics. A consumer is any individual who purchases goods or services, which may be sold by manufacturers, wholesalers, or retailers.

With this law, buyers are gonna be aware of what they are buying, such as the ingredients in food; that advertising is fair and does not mislead; that debt collection is fair, and nearly every step in the buying and selling of goods is ordered towards creating a level playing field. Anyways, let’s get to the point. Why is the consumer law important and why should buyers be aware of the consumer law? Well, according to the department of health the main reason why the buyers should be aware of the consumer law is so that the buyers would know the laws against deceptive advertising and pricing, when they apply. False advertising has been a problem, not just in the Philippines but in the whole world. And this is where the department of health comes in… The department of health has given out tips on how to spot out false advertising namely :

-The product is advertised as a quick and effective cure-all for a wide range of illness.

-Certain key words like "scientific breakthrough, miracle cure, all natural without side-effects or ancient remedy" are used.

And a lot more…

Obviously the Department of Health is taking these types of things seriously and has shown strict implementation towards the buyers. But the question is,  “why are they doing this?” well, it’s just logic to be honest, and what I mean is that the reason why they’re taking this seriously is to make buyers safe and aware. With all of these false advertising going around, hypothetically, some buyers would believe on these things and could possibly not get the result that they wanted. A real example of this is when my uncle bought a low calorie milk ,thinking it was but apparently wasn’t, he knew it was fake when he noticed instead of him getting lower weight, it instead grew by a lot.

In summary, Buyers like us should always be aware of the consumer law, to avoid getting deceived by sellers. But this also applies to sellers as well, once you’re caught violating the law, you will be punished for doing such thing.
When you engage in false advertising, your consumers will perceive you as untrustworthy. Both the customers you already have and any potential new customers will tend to feel like you betrayed them and take their business elsewhere. Your customers won't be loyal anymore and that will ruin your business. Hopefully, all of these “false advertising” and such could stop, in-order for buyers to stop getting fooled.

KALAYAAN

20th Century Art

     FINISHED ARTWORK :
"GAUDY TINT"

This artwork I made may look scuffed but it has meaning into it. First off, the majority of the painting has the color white on it. Why is that you may ask. Well from how I see it it is the world, and it's my canvas. The different colors that you're seeing right now other than white, is MY reality and on the painting I made you can see I am creating my reality through the canvas which is the world.

"The world is our canvas and we should create our reality through it."

The art movement that has inspired me to draw this absolute masterpiece that I made is Existentialism Art. Specifically, the Russian Avant-garde. I was inspired to make this artwork because the fact that just "splattering" paint everywhere is hard is a pretty awesome and cool concept for my opinion. I mean I'm really into stuff that look easy but actually hard when you're the one doing it. So, that's about it.
